Rimogard 309
I've recently played this deck quite a lot and managed to squeeze a win in Lost in Mirkwood, The King's Quest, and ... the Siege of Annuminas! This is probably the 20th Dale deck already using Beregond as the third hero. Honestly, I haven't checked that but it's one of the most popular Dale builds.
I've decided to use Beregond (Spirit) instead of Galadriel simply because he provides great defense early on, which helps you build your Dale engine in 3-4 turns. Beregond also gives you threat reduction. Truth be told, I think that Galadriel is still the strongest option because she can find the King of Dale attachment in no time with her mirror.
Key to Victory
Finding the King of Dale is the key to victory. Therefore, mulligan like crazy to dig it out of your deck. If that doesn't happen, it's usually not that fun. Use Brand's response to draw cards when possible and Gandalf to draw additional cards.
When possible, you can turn Beregond into a monster with 8 defense and 5 HP with the help of:
- Shield of Gondor
- Hauberk of Mail
- Arwen's response
Allies & Attachments
- Redwater Sentry: He helps Beregond protect your board state. When possible, slap a Hauberk of Mail on him for free. In cojunction with Raiment of War for 1 resource, he turns into a 5 defense, 6 HP beast.
- North Realm Lookout: He is best with a Spare Hook and Cloak and/or a Bow of Yew, because he doesn't exhaust and you can use him to ready other characters or even kill some enemies.
- Knight of Dale vs Warrior of Dale: I've decided to add 3 copies of the knights because they are useful in several areas - they have at least 2 willpower and can be readied pretty easily.
- Long Lake Trader: He is quite essential for the Dale archetype. Moving item attachments from one character to another in the most opportune moment can be sometimes crucial. In the King's Quest, Brand had 2 damage on him and he was about to die. Just before the dragon's attack, the Trader transfered a Raiment of War on the hero to increase his hit points.
- Rhovanion Outrider: A very useful ally overall, he gives you 2 attack and often 2 willpower. His ability can often deal with location lock as well.
- Arwen Undomiel: She provides you with 2 more willpower and +1 defense to Beregond or one of the sentries.
- Gandalf: Most useful when he gives you 3 additional cards, because sometimes your drawing engine gets stuck. For example, when you have all your allies from your hand on the board and you've assigned them all the attachments you have. That's when you play Gandalf to revitalize your board state.
The honorable mentions go to Unexpected Courage (slap it on Beregond), Dunedain Remedy (heals your heroes), and Celebrian's Stone (turns Bard into a 5-willpower questing machine). I usually like to leave Brand ready to perform attacks.
Events
- Open the Armory: Helps you search for Shield of Gondor, but it's also here to find a Hauberk of Mail, a Raiment of War, or a Bow of Yew.
- Traffic from Dale: When you don't have enough cards, you can play Gandalf. Draw the cards you need and do some trading to play all the necessary cards in your hand in the most crucial moments when you've used all your resources. This can help you get back into the game from a very difficult position.

You’d be surprised! This is only the third deck with Beregond. Fourth if you count both versions.
