27 - The Druadan Forest (Progression Series)
ShellinProgression 5007
Description
This is another fellowship continuing on in my goal to play through all of the quests in release order to learn how all (or most) of the cards interact with one another. The first fellowship for the quests in the core set can be found here, and it contains a slightly more detailed overview of what I'm going for with building these decks. As always, any feedback is appreciated so that I can continue to learn more!
I have made a couple of mono-sphere decks over the course of this progression series (primarily with Tactics), but had never made a mono-Lore deck. Mirlonde seems right at home in mono-lore, so I decided to build my decks around trying to make that work. The majority of the danger in this quest comes from direct damage. There is plenty of archery to go along with a few treacheries that can do a lot of damage, so healing seemed like a good idea. Elrond, Warden of Healing, and Silvan Tracker can make the archery damage almost trivial, which makes building around the rest of the quest a lot easier.
Ideally, Beregond can get buffed up with Song of Wisdom so that he can get A Burning Brand in addition to all of his other toys. He and Frodo should be able to handle any attacks from enemies. Since so many attachments for this deck are coming from across the table, Renewed Friendship can help get more use out of Denethor's ability.
Despite all of the healing, and Beregond surviving everything, I would say that Denethor is the MVP of this set up. Lore has so many ways to deal with things coming out of the encounter deck that it is incredibly helpful to be able to see what is coming (and occasionally banish it to the bottom of the encounter deck). Denethor and A Test of Will should be on the lookout to cancel Leaves on Tree which can otherwise completely neuter Beregond (and Glorfindel).
Great stuff!
