Silvan Tracker
Reviews

The reviews for this card seem a bit mixed, and this card may have been really not that great in the early years of the game. But I think, it hast now become absolutely insane in real Silvan decks. Reduce the cost for each of the little fellows by 1 with O Lórien!, play them without resource match with Thranduil and his combat action, enjoy a 2/2/2/3 ally for cost of 2 in this round, and then start taking and healing every archery damage in the game. Even more fun with Elrond on the table: You will never have to worry about archery damage as long as you have some Silvan characters with hitpoints. They themselves make a good archery soak with their 3 hitopints, too. Just amazing now.

I can see why people wouldn't rate this ally, and initially I didn't either - Silvans were just too squishy for this to be that helpful. Now that they are a much more robust archetype though, the value of these has increased dramatically. They are perfect for keeping your Silvan heroes (especially Thranduil) healthy. They are also a great way to deal with Archery, as you can scatter the damage across multiple characters (most of the better Silvan allies have two hp, so can take a hit each), who will all heal in the refresh phase. Has definitely gone from somewhat of a coaster, to a card I use regularly in my Silvan decks.

Silvan Tracker is not as good as it could have been. It's statline isn't very good for it's cost and it's ability is limited by the fact that you don't want Silvan elves taking damage in the first place. Now, granted, if you can get one to survive an attack or two, then you really want this up and running. With multiple copies out, they could defend and then heal each other. A better option would be Galadhrim Healer. Of course, just for fun, you could get extra healing out of this by exhausting a hero for Captain's Wisdom say; and ready it again with Heir of Mardil or something like that!

The Silvan Tracker's Response only applies during the Refresh phase, so it doesn't do anything with your suggested Captain's Wisdom/Heir of Mardil combo. — Warden of Arnor 5911
Whoops! I didn't realize Captain's Wisdom was a resource action. Thanks for the heads-up! — Wandalf the Gizzard 2486
