"Then Glorfindel leapt forward upon him and his golden armour gleamed strangely in the moon, and he hewed at that demon that it leapt again upon a great boulder and Glorfindel after. Now there was a deadly combat upon that high rock above the folk; and these, pressed behind and hindered ahead, were grown so close that well nigh all could see, yet was it over ere Glorfindel's men could leap to his side. The ardour of Glorfindel drave that Balrog from point to point, and his mail fended him from its whip and claw." ━ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fall of Gondolin

Introduction

This deck is where my mind first went when I saw the new version of Glorfindel, and the result doesn't disappoint. In short, it aims to load up Glorfindel with attachments using Forth, The Three Hunters! and the amazing card and resource acceleration of Erestor and Arwen Undómiel. Just a few turns in, you will easily be able to quest for 15+ , defend a couple attacks with 4+ and A Burning Brand, and then swing back for about 10 . Due to the aformentioned awesomeness of Erestor and Arwen Undómiel, it's incredibly consistent.

A word of caution

The main weaknesses of the deck is early game defense and a lack of A Test of Will. The latter could be solved by simply adding it to the deck, hence its inclusion in the sideboard. For some scenarios it would certainly be an improvement, but you run the risk of slowing down the flipping of the contract, which might very well prove disasterous. I also happen to think that non-A Test of Will decks are more fun to play.

Regarding the defense, it is hard to work around the fact that Erestor is a weak defender, at least without attachments. This makes finding at least one such attachment a priority in your opening hand. By the late game though, you will have enough duplicate cards to throw to Protector of Lórien to solve most defensive issues. If you still feel that need more defense, consider adding Cloak of Lórien from the sideboard.

What about Cirith Thoronath?

For those of you interested in Balrog-slaying, in order to reach the 22 needed to damage the saga Balrog enough to then be able to defeat him by throwing Glorfindel off a bridge, some extra cards will be necessary. I've opted to go for Fair and Perilous, as it adds an additional 6 for just 1 resource. Draw a couple of them, hold on to them with Silver Harp, and Glorfindel will do the rest.

As for playing the deck in more normal situations, it should be quite straightforward: draw attachments, play attachments, and win! Happy Questing!

Very nice deck! I made a similar one when glorfindel came out, and I agree, it works very well. One thing I discovered is erestor can be a great defender by including the cloak and a box of earth. These are not restricted and can give you +2 def on top of the shields. I used reforged rather than daemons runes since you already have a ton of card draw, and might like to pull back some attachments you had to discard. It’s a super fun deck to pilot in solo, and has been pretty good in multiplayer as well. Nicely done.

Cloak of Lórien + Box of Earth is a neat idea, I'll test it out! I tried to take the deck up against nightmare Carn-Dûm, and a couple of extra would probably have won me the game. Reforged would also be great, didn't think of that.

This is a neat deck! I tried a Glorfindel deck a couple weeks ago and it really didn't work the best. This looks really good!
