This is part of my "cycle progression" playthrough, where I get access to all of the cards from a cycle at once, in addition to the prior cycles. For the Against the Shadows (AtS) cycle, that includes the core (Core), Shadows of Mirkwood (SoM), Khazad-dum (KD), and The Hobbit (TH).
This is a big ally heavy deck, ideally using Elrond with Vilya to pay the upfront costs. If you can get Light of Valinor on him, all the better.
If that doesn't work, you've got resource acceleration in Steward of Gondor and Théodred to get big bodies on the board and then A Very Good Tale to double down on the investment. Imladris Stargazer is there to help you setup the best Vilya turns and to check if A Very Good Tale is going to pay off.
Legolas is around for lower starting threat and first round battle questing. The allies are selected around battle (Beorn, Vassal of the Windlord, Veteran of Nanduhirion), siege (Veteran of Nanduhirion, Winged Guardian), and all around (Gandalf, Gildor Inglorion) questing.
You need to clear Ithilien Road in the first round or else get lucky on an undefended attack not killing a hero and not drawing a 2nd enemy. If you can get through the first few rounds, you've probably got it made.
