ArchangelCJ 4
This deck is based on the Elves of Lórien Starter Deck and has been upgraded with the Revised Core Set. (I only own the Revised Core Set and Starter Decks).
There are better heroes and cards that can be swapped into this deck to improve it, but I went for a thematic approach.
Heroes
Celeborn
is the cornerstone of the Silvan deck. His ability to grant +1 Willpower, +1 Attack, and +1 Defense to Silvan allies when they enter play is critical to maximizing the impact of Silvan "bounce" mechanics. He works perfectly with cards like The Tree People, Host of Galadhrim, and Naith Guide, ensuring allies contribute significantly before leaving play.
Galadriel
provides consistent support by reducing threat, boosting questing power, and drawing cards. Her ability to let a character quest without exhausting is excellent for action economy. She combines with Nenya for questing boosts and allows heroes like Haldir of Lórien to attack without sacrificing questing ability.
Haldir of Lórien
is your combat specialist. His ability to attack enemies before they engage you is perfect for controlling the board and eliminating threats. He works well with Unexpected Courage to allow multiple attacks or with cards like Feigned Voices to avoid engagement entirely.
Attachments
Protector of Lórien
(always attach to Celeborn) is the name of the card this deck is based on because of the potential in this attachment. Provides flexible boosts to questing or defense by discarding cards. Discard excess cards and during turns when defense is critical.
Nenya
It can grant Galadriel a Lore resource and empower her to significantly boost another character's willpower.
O Lórien!
Reduces the cost of Silvan allies, enabling faster ally deployment.
Unexpected Courage
grants extra actions to key heroes.
Allies
Naith Guide
Let a chosen hero quest without exhausting, boosting your action economy. Use on Celeborn to keep him free for combat.
Galadhrim Minstrel
fetches events when entering play, helping you find key event cards like Feigned Voices, The Tree People or even Daeron's Runes to further thin the deck.
Galadriel's Handmaiden
is an excellent questing ally that reduces your threat when entering play. Great for keeping threat low for Haldir of Lórien ability or avoiding engagements. Bounce and replay with The Tree People for repeated threat reduction and questing power.
Greenwood Archer
readies a hero when entering play. Ideal for multi-use heroes like Galadriel or Celeborn.
Silvan Tracker
provides healing for Silvan allies, helping sustain your forces in longer quests.
Orophin
recurs a Silvan ally from your discard pile, providing excellent value and flexibility. Use to bring back key allies like Galadhrim Minstrel or Galadriel's Handmaiden or Naith Guide.
Henamarth Riversong
is A low-cost ally for scrying the encounter deck, which allows you to plan and make informed decisions. He pairs well with cards like A Test of Will or Feigned Voices to neutralize treachery and revealed enemies.
Silvan Refugee
is A cheap questing ally with high willpower but a vulnerability to ally loss. Pair with Celeborn for a temporary boost, and play during turns when you don’t expect allies to leave play or can be used to bounce.
Defender of the Naith
is A strong defensive ally that becomes ready after another Silvan ally leaves play, ensuring you have repeatable defense.
Gandalf
Is A versatile ally who can reduce threat, deal damage, or draw cards upon entering play. Works perfectly with Sneak Attack to maximize his impact for a single resource. (I was unsure if i wanted to add Gandalf to this deck because I wanted to keep it thematic. Yet Mithrandir doth indeed tread the paths of Lórien.)
Events
A Test of Will
cancels treachery effects, protecting your board state. You can use it alongside Henamarth Riversong to anticipate when treacheries are coming.
Daeron's Runes
draws cards and cycles through your deck for key pieces. Discard excess cards or allies you can recur with Orophin.
Elrond's Counsel
reduces threat and boosts questing power. It helps maintain a low threat for Haldir of Lórien combat ability and stacks well with Galadriel threat reduction.
Feigned Voices
cancels an enemy attack by bouncing a Silvan ally.
The Tree People
bounces a Silvan ally to bring another one into play, often for better value. It is ideal for triggering Celeborn bonus and reusing high-value allies like Galadhrim Minstrel or Galadriel's Handmaiden.
Sneak Attack
temporarily brings an ally into play, most commonly Gandalf for his powerful ability. Can also be used with Silvan allies for key triggers like Naith Guide or Orophin.
Host of Galadhrim
returns all Silvan allies to your hand and then plays them again, triggering their "enters play" effects. For massive value, synergizes more with allies like Galadhrim Minstrel or [Galadriel's Handmaiden].
Starting Hand
A strong starting hand should feature Nenya and/or O Lórien!, as these cards are key to kickstarting your deck's synergy. The rest of the cards can be quickly drawn or searched for as needed.
Thoughts on Alternatives
Elrond
Many Silvan Elf decks include Elrond for his versatility, making the deck more resilient. However, I chose not to include him because I wanted to keep the deck focused on the Lothlórien theme. He could arguably improve the deck’s overall efficiency, especially in larger games, but Haldir of Lórien aligns better with my goal of emphasizing the Silvan Elf synergy. By going with my decision, I keep the Lothlórien feel and lean more into Silvan Elf tactics and abilities like bouncing allies in and out of play.
Gandalf + Sneak Attack
is a powerful combo that can provide significant board impact, as Gandalf can draw cards, deal damage, or reduce threat. Suppose you want to incorporate more copies of Gandalf into your deck for even greater impact. In that case, you may consider removing a copy of Unexpected Courage, Defender of the Naith, Henamarth Riversong. While the combo is effective and thematic with Gandalf's presence in Lothlórien, I wanted to focus on the Silvan Elf mechanics and make sure the deck sticks to a strong Elven identity rather than adding additional elements that could distract from the main theme of bouncing and synergy.

Jan 09, 2025You are right 3 copies of Protector of Lórien will be better. I am not sure if those cards will be in the repackaged products. I am only planning on buying all repackaged products. |
would take the signature card Protector of Lórien 3 times (more for the theme not effectiveness). its not unique theoreticially you can use it more than once. or more likely after playing the first use the others to discard for it ;)
if you get you hands on it i would include 1 Elven-light and Deep Knowledge
