Gandalf is the defender, Éowyn can attack for 16, and Glorfindel is an all-rounder. Plus, he's got a spirit icon, which is always great.
Sideboard cards are quest dependent. Power of Orthanc for quests with lots of conditions (Dwarrowdelf, Angmar Awakened). Self Preservation for quests with archery, and Protector of Lórien for quests which punish you for having too many cards in your hand (i.e. Ring-maker).
