Edheliad 21

Edheliad has a newer deck inspired by this one: The Hidden Vale

Campaign Mode - A Shadow of the Past

"The ring Frodo Baggins inherited from his uncle Bilbo is indeed The One Ring. After conferring with the wizard Gandalf, Frodo decides to leave the Shire.

Anticipating the hobbit's flight, Elrond of Rivendell sends out in secret a party of Elves, with hope to guard Frodo from the Black Riders that have begun to appear in the Shire..."

No Light of Valinor in my starting hand, but Courage Awakened and two Elrond's Counsel meant I could take my time on stage one, adding just the right amount of willpower to quest through a favourable run of locations from the encounter deck.

By the time moving forward was necessary, Arwen Undómiel and Guardian of Rivendell were both in play, as well as a Leaf Brooch, Steed of Imladris and Elven-light.

Erestor followed in stage two, as well as two Hasty Stroke, which made defending against Black Riders with Guardian of Rivendell and Elrohir a far less daunting prospect.

Stage three proved more tricky. Ate a huge threat increase ahead of Buckleberry Ferry's Hide 3 test, which drew the attention of a mounted Black Rider (and his crow friend). Frodo used the Ring to discard a location that would have blocked travel to the ferry, and received instead a surging stack of treacheries. Erestor fell in brave defence of the party, but the boat was in sight.

With Steed of Imladris and Vanish from Sight in hand the result from there was a formality.

Notes: No lack of resources despite no Resourceful played. Relative lack of combat removed the need for much readying (a single crow the only enemy casualty). Fair and Perilous continues to be the deck's least useful card.
