Discard Pile
|
BanjoFett 17
Having a discard pile is good. The Dwarves know this well, and Arwen's ability is a good backup for getting the right card into the bin.
You want to see Elven-light early. Card draw on tap means you can spend all those resources. Use Reforged to play Dwarrowdelf Axe on a Soldier of Erebor or Gimli, or use it to get a timely Cram onto Glóin instead.
Celebrían's Stone on Théodred is nothing new, but it's a key piece of the puzzle. This deck can pull its weight in the quest phase. You'll likely use his ability to hand resources to Arwen, or to another player. Once Gloin is set up, the Leadership resources roll in. But he needs a healer, so make the other players have one.
Soldier of Erebor is a stalwart here. Don't hold back on his ability. With those stats, he's a big presence on the board. He's also an excellent target for To me! O my kinsfolk!.
The single copy of Grim Resolve has been a clutch card for me a few times. It's very powerful late game. It's a core set card I've never played until now, in ten years of playing the game.
I've been playing this alongside a Hobbit Secrecy deck, and it's performed very well in a number of quests, including Hunt for the Dreadnaught, and the Moria custom quests. The low cost curve helps you set your engine up over a few rounds, and your threat is low enough that you can avoid enemies if you need to.
Earlier versions of the deck included Imladris Stargazer and Ravens of the Mountain. It's a decent combo, and worth a try if you like scrying.
