Discard Pile

This deck is the result of me figuring something out yesterday and wanting to give it a spin. Specifically, I discovered that cards given to another player via Message from Elrond could be discarded to Protector of Lorien, and stay in the discard pile to be retrieved by a retrieval effect. So then I decided I would try to recycle the Message as much as possible to get a good bit of cards over to the other deck. But what cards? I asked myself. I settled on Outlands allies.

Consider the possibility: with six Ethir Swordsmen under one player's control, you get a boost of SIX willpower to all of the Outlands characters, of which there would be 28, if you got them all into play. If you were feeling REALLY up for some jank, you could always run a four-player version of this archetype, with three players passing around Messages, but I will leave that to Seastan or Some Sort when they are feeling up for a challenge. (By the way, that would total 652 willpower, so someone needs to get motivated to do that!) However, this is a lowly 2-player version, so it can only net 184 willpower out of its Outland characters.

This deck is the one that will have all of the Outland allies under its control. When the other deck passes it allies, it will discard them to Protector of Lórien and get them back with Men of the West. It will then use the resource acceleration of Steward of Gondor and begin pumping out those allies.

The fellowship is linked above. Although it's a two-deck fellowship, it needs some more decks with some early-game power if it hopes to win. Once it gets rolling, though, it's unstoppable.

Enjoy the deck!

Interestingly enough, it just so happens that the project I've been working on for the past couple weeks has been designed to load up with several decks' worth of Outlands allies under one player's control at once. But I never even considered Message + Protector to do it-- that's some next-level jank. (I'm relying on Spirit Eowyn + Stand and Fight, instead.)

@Some SortI'd love to see what you come up with! Good luck!

Something tells me that when you discard cards from your hand they are placed in the owner's discard pile, but I can't find an actual ruling.

This was a hilarious idea, but for the record, the new Rules Reference now explicitly prohibits the animating concept of this deck:

When a card is discarded, it goes to the discard pile belonging to the card’s originating deck.

[Discard Pile and Victory Display, p. 6]

Extremely clever, though; bravo.
