Using it basically means you want to defend with Arwen or Elrond, which happens most in early game before you get other allies out. I find it doesn't add much value in mid/late game, and I'd prefer to avoid an attack (Feint and Grimbold) than to defend one with a hero and risk death.

Not necessarily. You could put it on Elrond so that he could quest as well as use vilya every round.

Hmm. Your comment made me look up action windows, and I can see how it could be useful. I'll keep an eye out on how many situations it would be helpful for as I continue testing; thanks!

The one downside is that if you use Light of Valinor to quest with Elrond then whatever ally you bring out with Vilya would not be able to commit to the quest. However, that isn’t always a bad thing because several of the allies listed in your deck would not be used to quest anyway. Additionally, Elrond is good at everything so if you had Unexpected Courage and Light of Valinor on him then he could quest, trigger Vilya and be ready to attack or defend since he is a decent attacker as well.

This is a neat idea to try a limited purchase One Deck. Have you taken up against the reduced quest gauntlet?

I'm working backwards; I've confirmed it's possible to beat Escape from Gol Dulgur and Mount Doom, though win percentage is lower than Seastan's original with less efficient healing and one less unexpected courage.

That makes sense but at least it's possible! I hope you will add the stats once you complete it.
