This is the deck I used to defeat Desert Crossing for my single Core series.

Silvan Tracker. That's it. Bring three copies and some other Silvans and you really take the sting out of this quest. There is a lot of direct damage being dealt to you, so healing it off every round is vital.
Haldir of Lórien is a great hero (in general and on this quest). There are some enemies with low hitpoints but nasty engagement effects. So sniping them is very useful.
