Frodo defends, Sam attacks, everyone quests.

Play Nor am I a Stranger and Herugrim on Sam, so that when he readies after engaging an enemy, he will attack for 6. His attack can be boosted even further with Protector of Lórien, which you can keep fueling with Elven-light and Steward of Gondor on Frodo.

Halbarad and Pippin raises engagement costs so that you can always trigger Pippin and Sam.

There is a ton of card draw in here because there are so many moving pieces. I often mulligan for Peace, and Thought, and not spend anything during the first round in hopes of drawing into a Tighten Our Belts. It's a really nice combo for tri-sphere decks featuring leadership and lore.

Hobbit Cloak is a good card to add for quests with heavy hitters like trolls or Nazgul.

Lastly, I found the deck really fun to play! I hope you enjoy it too!

I think we need to challenge @Seastan to see how many decks he can build in a row that do not include Steward of Gondor

Nice little Hobbits deck. I haven't played them that much either (mostly coz of they so weak Hitpoints), but they can be really fun to play !

I have a pretty similar deck, using merry 2 to keep threat low, then i got many stuff for Sam : Steward+Song of battle+Leberthon/dagger+Blood of numenor+Gondorian fire then he turn to a raging beast !

Sam mounted like that would have threw Isildur and the ring in that Volcano !

Hobbits got the best untap in the game, aswell as the one of the best mount, make them funny to play, and with them, peace and tghought turns out to be really interresting and powerful !

@mduckworth83 well i guess that card is really needed for so many solo decks, without her, there would be plenty of quest that we could not attempt ! Cards like that and glorfindel 2 are needed.

Cheers.

And i'm glad to see Tighten our belts there ! i always like that card ! i played it a lot when i started the game. As long as you can manage the 1st turn, it can make your deck to explode the 2nd turn so hard ! Interesting and underated card really !

So can Halbarad be use to help with Sam and Pippen's abilities? The way I read it they trigger after you engage an enemy with higher threat and Halbarad increases threat of those already engaged with you. When you engage them can they already be considered to have his bonus applied?

@Aorakis I firmly believe that Steward of Gondor is the biggest mistake the designers of this game has made. I've been playing from the core set and gotten so sick of playing it in every single deck that matters, that I just completely quit throwing it in decks.

The problem is that if you quit throwing it in decks, you have a harder time facing the newer scenarios...since the newer scenarios assume a SOG driven resource curve. I recently just perused @Seastan's decklist and realize that he includes this card in the vast majority of his decks... which is what generated the comment.

The fix would be soooooo easy too. Just make the card only playable on heroes with the Gondor trait, rather than giving the Gondor trait.

@mduckworth83 well sure it is a powerfull card, but there are now many way to just avoid playing it.

Sure denethor 2 is much better with it, but you can also just use him without steward, just sending his ressource to a Damrod or a Mablung for exemple.

What about Arwen ? She also, is a game changer that makes good (and bad too maybe..)

The steward problem to me is more, with cards like Blood of numenor and Gondorian Fire.

Unexpected courage is also a really powerful card, no one complains about it specially now that arwen can pay for it turn 1..

In the end, it's just a player and playing style choice !

I can play some Eowyn2 - Dunhere, generating tons of ressources without it !

nor a Rohan swarm without it, caldara is just O.P without it aswell... (speaking of unbalanced cards ... how about that imrahil + caldara mechanic... ?)

We're are now in a era, where generating ressource is much easier than before. (maybe just lore sphere is a bit weaker in that aspect).

With cards like captain's wisdom, arwen, denethor, mablung, gloin,.. you got plenty ways of making and transfering ressources without steward

13nrv got a gandalf deck that can generate 6-8 ressources a turn without steward and wich works quite well too !

and to be honest, before nerfing a card like steward. Perhaps ffg should revise that Horn of gondor nerf... ! wich was stupid as hell and swtich to the old version + limit 1x, 2x per turn or something the like...

But surely, this card helps a lot, specially on solo mode. My current deck is grateful to denethor+steward, without it, my deck would be just a waste instead of being one of the funniest i played in a long time. And still, this deck is far from being Powerfull.

i.m.o, as i said, ffg should reworks cards like "Bilbo hero, Dori hero, Horn of gondor" and the likes before looking at this one ^^

Cheers ;)

@Seastan What about Fireside Song and Song of Hope? These new cards gives Sam more attackpower :)
