IstariMaiarDB 2
Created this to take on the Balrog in the scenario Shadow and Flame. Wanted to be able to deliver a lot of damage in one round and with as few characters as possible. Key cards are Gondorian Fire (for damage), Blood of Númenor (for defence) and Hauberk of Mail/Gondorian Shield (for defence as well).
If you can get the 2 armour pieces onto Beregond, he has 7 defence, which can take hits from the Balrog base attack. Dunedain Warning can add more if needed. That should buy enough time to get Gondorian Fire drawn and into play (works well on Imrahil) . Aragorn is left open to quest or defend and attack as needed. Unexpected Courage usually on Aragorn and Imrahil (can let Imrahil block other enemies aside from the Balrog).
Presuming you get that setup, you can block the big attacks and save up for the big attack (first time I was able to deal out 34 damage). Will try this deck against other big enemy scenarios and see how it works - in theory defend long enough to build up enough resources to be able to take out trolls and such in 1 round.
The heroes have nice effects - bringing out allies and threat reduction, and Aragorn able to ready for a 1 resource. They also quest/block/attack well just with basic stats. Questing can sometimes be a little low, Faramir and Sword that was Broken helps on that.
Keep the anti treachery and shadow cards on hand to block a "loss of all attachments" on a character - as it ruins the big attacks/defence if you don't block them.
Oh, make sure someone brings some matches :)
PS - the need for the Blood of Númenor seems to me to be an option to not need in this deck .... but can't hurt to have another way to defend if you get swarmed.
Note that Ancestral Armor can't go on Beregond, at least not without Song of Kings or Diligent Noble.
