Card restrictions: Core + the two Hobbit sagas
Some notes and observations:
-
King Under the Mountain will cover your card draw needs (with a little help from Bifur) and should ideally be in your opening hand.
-
Ori is without a doubt one of the best Dwarf heroes.
However for this deck I feel Bombur works a bit better - He's a sturdy defender and helps kickstart Thorins ability. -
The deck has a ton of unique cards. Protector of Lórien allows you to get some use out of duplicates stuck in your hand.
-
Brok Ironfist is a meme. He most likely will not be enough to save the day if you actually do lose a hero and he's a dead draw otherwise.
-
A Very Good Tale is an awesome card (probably the best card of that box really) and can accelerate your ally swarm.
-
Try to recyle Cram with your Erebor Hammersmiths. Maybe quest with Gimli or something if you know you want to play a Hammersmith next turn anyway.
The deck runs many 2-3 cost cards and can be a bit slow to get going.
But with Anduin and most of the Hobbit quest you can usually stall for a bit (like on stage 1 here) and then progress once you've established your board.
Your second turn could look like this:
a) Play King Under the Mountain and a two cost Miner/Hammersmith or...
b) Play Steward on Bombur, generate two lore resources and play Bifur to draw 2 cards. (Bifurs response triggers after he enters play so he includes himself in the 5-dwarf-counter!)
Sideboard
Faramir is generally a better pick than Longbeard Orc Slayer - The questing boost is important, especially without Dáin Ironfoot's aura.
To me! O my kinsfolk! can be a bit hit-or-miss. Might be worth to try out some other events (maybe one of the Baggins events?) instead.
If you can find some room and don't mind bringing a beardless elf along - Henamarth Riversong is a pretty strong pick for solo games.
For the "Dungeons Deep and Caverns Dim" quest you should drop A Very Good Tale (milling your deck is not a good idea in this quest!) plus maybe the Citadel Plates and instead bring more two cost allies - This will help with the Riddle mechanic.
As someone who owns quite a few expansions, I honestly would not change much. Personally, I would take Ori over Bombur, and then add in another Citadel Plate and 3 Quick Strikes
