Welcome to the most masochistic deck I have ever made! The general concept here is very straightforward, take attacks undefended to get

1) Money on Gloin 2) Cards for Butterbur 3) All the damage from Gimli

Heal the damage on Gloin using Well Preserved when necessary, and load Barliman up with as many Bree Pony's as he can ride, and as much Pint's as he can drink.

Starting Hand: Always consider any hand with Narvi's Belt in it, as that allows you to pay for anything else that comes up. Raiment of War is also one of the best draws as it accelerates Three Hunters, and allows Gimli more breathing room with his attack.

Questing: While this deck starts somewhat low on questing, it is offset by the fact that you can usually send everyone turn one. You are ready to take attacks undefended if needed, and you don't always want to kill enemies that engage you, as their pain is your main source of pleasure with this deck. Any low attack enemies should be grabbed and held for the duration so Butterbur can dig through your deck.

This deck is a blast to play, and did much better than I expected when I first took it for a spin. I have cleared many quests solo with it including several from the Mordor cycle, and find it a good time every time it hits the table.

Cheers!

Ha! I think you were playtesting this one when we played a few weeks back. I love it!

Love the deck idea! Did you have enough readying? I see Onward Into Battle, but have you tested adding further options such as Magic Ring, Cram, or even good old Unexpected Courage?

So I ran versions with Unexpected Courage (I didn't try Cram, though that's a good idea) and ultimately decided against it because it slowed down how quickly I could reliably get to flip the contract, and it only occasionally mattered. The weird part with running this deck is how much you can do without readying. Removing the necessity to defend functions as a ready for this deck. Once it's up and running, Gimli can reliably one shot any enemy that shows up, and if there's a swarm of enemies, it usually means lots of cards and money.
