Con of the Rings 2023 Deck #3 - Bree
This is the third of five decks I will be bringing to this year's Con of the Rings. My goal with the decks is to be able to play them with my physical collection and to minimise potential uniqueness conflicts wherever possible. I also don't want anything too janky - I don't want to drag the team down!
I wanted to build a deck with the new (to me at least) ALeP cards. I settled on Bree because it seemed the most self-contained, meaning the core of the deck didn't require much thought and it will only cause conflicts if someone else is also playing a Bree deck.
The deck uses basically all of the ALeP Bree/undefended attack centred cards, with Barliman Butterbur, Harry Goatleaf, and Nob as its heroes.
To fill out the deck, I gave it a Pipe sub-theme. The pipes are synergistic with Nob's ability and give additional in-sphere options for card draw, threat reduction, and cost reduction, which combines nicely with Seasoned Forager.
The pipes also tie-in very well with the Bree drinking theme. In fact, the only card I'm running that's really unthematic is Warden of Healing, because without him the deck's healing was not good enough. Including him makes the deck more reliable and should allow me to provide some support to my teammates as well.
The sideboard is quite basic, with some additional Item attachments being the most transformative.
