DECK NAME - Desperate Treasures
OVERVIEW - Very hard quest in solo. Try as I might, I couldn't design a winning deck with the available card pool in progression style. So as they say, "Desperate times call for desperate measures." In the case of this deck in solo progression, we're going to rely on "desperate treasures." I don't usually use campaign cards in my solo progression, but the treasures give us a shot against this insanely hard quest!
HEROES
- Beorn - one of the few characters that can survive Dread Has Come! in setup
- Glorfindel - attach Blade of Gondolin, Light of Valinor, and Thrór's Battle Axe
- Legolas - attach Black Arrow, Song of Travel, Glamdring, Orcrist, and The Arkenstone
- Bilbo Baggins - his action will be a pivotal part of our strategy
STRATEGY
- OPENING HAND - look for Light of Valinor and treasure cards
- TREASURES - use Bilbo's action to search your deck for Bilbo's Magic Ring; you can then use the action to gain a resource and fetch another treasure; I usually go for The Arkenstone to get a free Eagles of the Misty Mountains out: then Glamdring, Orcrist or Thrór's Golden Cup based on the situation
- STAGE 2B/3B/4B - normally I start with 3B and battle questing to keep from getting swarmed with enemies; 4B is next in order of importance; keep in mind you don't have to clear the quests to avoid their effect, just have progress on them at the end of the round
- Black Arrow - usually save this for the final stage
- Song of Travel - I went back and forth on including this but it helps to get out Ethir Swordsman w The Arkenstone rather than them being discarded due to stage 2B's effect; also nice to have a throwaway attachment for shadow effects
- A Test of Will - save for Dread Has Come!
- Hands Upon the Bow - use during action window during questing before resolving the quest to destroy enemies in staging (especially Gundabad Elite)
