Rydra 1
This deck is specifically tailored to beat the mission 4 of Fellowship of the ring "The ring goes south". This scenario has several particularities:
- Wargs have a relatively high engage cost
- Every time you engage an enemy, you will need to add damage counters to the active locations of the scenario and, when they are explored, they cause nasty effects on you depending on the amount of damage counters, either discard allies, cards or receive damage
- There are several incredibly nasty treacheries that will make you discard allies or force wargs to engage you, which you do NOT want given the #2 point
A proper deck built needs to take into account:
- A way to deal with the obstacles of the scenario
- A way to obtain cards and resources to help with point #1
Since we are not interested in engaging any enemies we could let them pile up in the staging area. The problem with this would be the accumulating threat, and here's where Haldir of Lórien comes into play. He can attack enemies in the staging area as long as you don't engage any enemies. This can help keep the staging area at bay while you quest with the rest of the characters.
With proper boosting from Bow of the Galadhrim or Dagger of Westernesse, he can easily reach 7 damage per attack, one-shooting every single enemy with the exception of the great grey warg.
Also for this strategy to be effective you need to keep your threat low. You can achieve that with Elrond's Counsel and The Galadhrim's Greeting.
Now that we solved the part of how to keep the staging area in control, the treacheries need to be dealt with A Test of Will and Frodo Baggins, the economy of the deck is going to be sustained by the Zigil Miner, Ered Nimrais Prospector, Dwarf Pipe and the Hidden Cache, with the help of Gandalf to consistenly be able to generate resources with the ZIgil Miner, while the card draw is handled by proper usage of Gandalf, Galdor of the Havens and Elven-light.
Henamarth Riversong and Wingfoot combo very well together to make the most out of Haldir.
Hope you like it, feedback is welcome!
