Into the West + Every Other Contract
Part 6
With the release of Beyond the Original Bargain, I am now working on a follow up to my original article on Into the West from over two and a half years ago. For that original article I built a bunch of Into the West decks--this time I'm building a bunch of decks that combine Into the West with every other contract. When I've published that article I will update this deck description with a link to it, and that article will have all my thoughts on this particular contract combination.
Playing this Deck
This contract combination is a curse upon Middle Earth. There is nothing that actually prohibits using both Into the West and Forth, The Three Hunters! at the same time. Their deckbuilding restrictions don't technically contradict each other, so I had to take it upon myself to do it, so that you don't have to. You're welcome.
Now on to the deck itself. I really tried my best to make a playable Three Hunters deck with the absurd cost curve of an Into the West deck. There are no 5-cost attachments in the game, so they all had to be events. The good news, though, is that even without any allies in your deck, Into the West still lets you draw a card every refresh phase. Also, Théodred can help you afford some of the more expensive cards in this deck.
I did play this deck, and I managed to beat Escape from Umbar. Challenge to the community: build a deck with this combination of contracts and see what quest you can beat with it. It was a really interesting puzzle and challenge for me.
I am greatly enjoying your Into the West challenge! Excited to see your Messenger of the King and Grey Wanderer ones!
