vonklaude 64

vonklaude has a newer deck inspired by this one: Solo Carn Dum (Silvan)

Ideal early plays are Henamarth Riversong and Steward of Gondor. If possible engage and Forest Snare a werewolf (don't Ranger Spikes werewolves as they can still attack from staging). Generally, stall and run the encounter deck out of cards (as they are not discarded for the first quest.) Also aim to snare soldiers of Carn Dum as you don't want them accumulating shadow cards in staging. Remember to deal a shadow card to snared enemies each combat, as well as when triggered by sorceries and Thaudir flipping.

Snaring a werewolf is key as in conjunction with Henamarth Riversong and The Tree People, Feigned Voices, Daeron's Runes, or Elrond's Counsel, they can be used to turn undesirable cards on the top of the encounter deck into shadow cards.

Once the encounter deck is empty, avoid ending the quest until you have used Galadriel and Will of the West to draw and play your whole deck. You should have Favor of the Valar on your threat dial, all events in hand, and mountains of resources.

Finally, complete the first quest, and chump Thaudir's immediate attack. Then he is engaged and can be controlled with events. Through controlling the top of the encounter as above, you should quest to a win in the following round (having stacked damage on a toothless Thaudir.)

I like the usage of Faramir since this quest is designed to have a lot of enemies own the staging area (Thaurdir is always there, which leaves Faramir at base 3 attack). Why Amarthiúl though, besides theme? His ability seemed somewhat contrary to Faramir's, and you have no tactics cards. Obviously this isn't a Dunedain decks why him? I would suggest replacing him with Celeborn, who is practically an auto-include for silvan decks. I would also add in some Quicker Than Sight is you have room. Also, why the lack of Nenya???

I really like the basis off this deck and will give it a whirl (any deck that can challenge Carn Dum is one worth trying!)

You are right about Celeborn. A plain mistake on my part. I think then bring in 3x Silvan Tracker and cut 1x Favor of the Valar and 2x Galadhrim Healer. Steward of Gondor goes on Faramir of course.

The deck is light on willpower. I'm thinking of replacing 1x A Test of Will with 1x Celebrían's Stone.

The deck consciously avoids investment in countering shadow cards. Ensure to chump with allies that aren't in your discards, and then the worst shadow would be the ones that flip Thaudir. I think with Carn Dum it's really a choice of poisons, and it seems to me the shadows are less dangerous than other things given the strategy pursued.

Or Nenya of course!

Note the refinements in version 2. Celeborn replaces Amarthiúl (I had been leaning in that direction, and @BlackArrow's critique sealed it.) Silvan Tracker's then replace a few cards. And, crucially, Galadriel reveals Nenya!
