DazeMan 710

This is a deck that I have built, after a long hiatus from the game, due to the craziness of life. I am glad to share it all with everyone, and hopefully this can be a deck many enjoy.

Why I built this deck

Ever since the announcement of Cirith Gurat, I really wanted to build a deck that fully powers up the Legacy Blade, but life got in the way and never got a chance to. So, now the time has come to put this blade to the test.

Hero Lineup

Thurindir: Since, the purpose of this deck is to power up the legacy blade, Thurindir is an obvious choice. We get to start the game with a side quest, and he becomes a more powerful quester with each side quest we complete. He is also our access to the sphere.

Aragorn: Aragorn is going to be the Primary attacker in the deck. He will receive the Legacy Blade and he can be given a Bow of Yew for some direct damage. I chose Aragorn to be the attacker in this deck because he is great at that role, as well as it feels thematic.

Arwen Undómiel: Arwen gives us access to Elrond's Counsel which is important in this deck, for it gives us the ability to keep our threat low and boost willpower while we try to complete as many side quests as possible in the early game. Also, her resource acceleration is great. Most of the decks cost is coming out of and , which her ability can fuel, since Aragorn can receive the resource.

Piloting Instructions

One thing that has been nice about playing this deck is that it never feels complicated but your decisions are important and meaningful.

The first thing you will have to decide is which side quest you would like to start with. Each one has a benefit to being first. Personally I like Double Back because it is 0 cost and lowers threat, allowing you to turtle while completing other side quests.

With the amount of card draw/fetch in this deck, there is nothing too dire to see in the opening hand, but Elven-light is always nice. It is also nice to see and ally that will be able to contribute towards questing, in order to increase the rate at which you finish side quests. The Road Goes Ever On is nice to see in the beginning for it can fuel your hand with another side quest after completing one.

There should be enough card draw to get Legacy Blade(s) on Aragorn decently early in the game. Daeron's Runes, Deep Knowledge, Elven-light and Open the Armory should all help you get it reliably.

Try to plow through as many side quests as you can, for once those Legacy Blades are giving you +3 , Aragorn becomes an unstoppable force. Aragorn is also capable of equipping a Bow of Yew, giving him the power to "one-shot" a lot of enemies.

Tech Tips

Something that is nice about this deck is that it is pretty simple to play. Something to note is there are a lot of events that allow you to avoid enemy attacks, such as Feint, Coney in a Trap and Quick Strike.

The resource curve is very low in this deck, so I use Thurindir's resources for neutral cards and allies (once you complete The Storm Comes) as much as possible.

North Realm Lookout and Bow of Yew are a combo or cards I included in order to have fun with the new dale cards. I There are different things I could have done with the ally lineup to make the deck more powerful, but I wanted to try something I hadn't yet. However, The action advantage plus the direct damage when the combo is set up, actually works really well within this deck.

Performance notes

In play testing I was able to beat Journey Down the Anduin, Journey UP the Anduin and Across the Etenmoors in one attempt.

Lost in Mirkwood took me two attempts because my first try I was playing blind and did not know exactly what to expect.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a fun deck to play, that attempts to take advantage of Legacy Blade while trying to be somewhat thematic, give this one a try and let me know your thoughts!

Whom do you use as a main defender in this deck? The big dunedain allies? Or do you rely on low threat and Aragorn's ability?

Also, you could Gather Information with Thurindir and use it to grab Double Back.

Early game I rely on sneaking a Ranger of Cardolan in, playing Defender of Rammas, Feint or Coney in a Trap. Or Aragorn in the early game.

You most definitely can use Gather Information, but I like Double Back first just because dropping to 24 threat turn 1 is very helpful.
