Concept: The deck takes a less conventional approach to defense: instead of upping the defense, up the hit points and rely on cheap healing. This approach is more versatile than traditional defense, because it covers archery and all forms of direct damage. To make it less risky, A Burning Brand is used to reduce combat to predictable damage.

We combine Elrond, Silvan Tracker and Wellinghall Preserver for the cheap healing part. Elf-friend is used to spread the Silvan Tracker’s love among your characters, including allies such as Jubayr. The Ents bring with them Ent Draught for more hit points, along with some much needed attack power.

Economy: we rely on Vilya and Elf-stone. Gildor Inglorion is used to feed Vilya, and is best played through Elf-stone. For resource management, the fact that Nenya grants a icon and Vilya a icon is quite neat.

Strengths and weaknesses: The deck, being Vilya- and Ent-based, is obviously potentially very strong, but quite slow. It needs at least 2 turns to set up a contingent. If the quest can be fooled by Galadriel’s magic (classic examples: Journey Down the Anduin, Shadows and Flames, Morgul Vale), it’s almost a sure win, as you should have no difficulty mounting a massive army that fully heals every turn. Any quest relying heavily on direct damage, such as Desert Crossing (the main testing ground for this deck), is also good for this deck. Other quests that forces strong enemies down your throat right out of the gate (e.g., The City of Corsairs), are bad matchups.

Opening hand: For your opening hand, look for the rings, and if that fails, look for Master of the Forge. Light of Valinor and Unexpected Courage are also required to mitigate the cost of using Vilya, since you will count on Elrond to be your main defender and recipient of A Burning Brand. One copy of Unexpected Courage should probably go on Galadriel, so that you can use both her action and Nenya’s.
