I have been toying with an idea for a solo quasi-progression series, where I am building solo decks to use only against one quest, taking them in the order they were released, with the following caveats:

  • must use the hero released in that specific pack + a minimum of 9 player cards from the pack (3 cards of each type: 3 allies, 3 attachments, 3 events)
  • can use any other hero/card that I own

For the first Mirkwood cycle AP, I thought of keeping it in the family, kind of... So besides the included AP hero - Lore Bilbo, I decided to pair him with the brand new Frodo Leadership, and have Gandalf join them in hero form. Since I am running 2 Hobbit heroes and the Rosie Cotton + Songs shenanigans are incredibly powerful, I created a deck to support that, while at the same time giving Gandalf access to all his toys.

The deck is therefore a mix of great and not so good cards, but it should be able to hold it nicely against this quest. I will be tweaking as I play this deck and am definitely open to suggestions.

The must-include cards, given the spheres of the selected heroes and deck synergies: 3x Rivendell Minstrel 1x DĂșnedain Mark 2x Song of Kings 2x Campfire Tales 1x Strider's Path

Starting threat is rather high so I tried to include some cards to try and keep it under control, especially since this quest features treacheries which punish you for going 35 threat and above. I might also need to include another copy of Steward of Gondor. However Gandalf is a powerhouse and should ideally be able to make up for it.
