A deck for use in the community Solo League for February 2020, running a gauntlet of Deadman's Dike, Escape from Mount Gram and The Dread Realm.
The list is my take on a Rossiel secrecy deck. Some of the deck choices have been made because I have never played a Victory Display deck before and want to try them out. Rossiel is effective in all these quests because almost every enemy and location share traits. The list is not tuned to be as efficient as possible, but there are several reasons why that is not always a bad thing against these quests.
-
The deck stands at 58 cards. It's usually a bad thing to go over the minimum 50, but since Deadman's Dike causes you to lose if your deck is empty having a few extra cards can help you out. I've also included both Daeron's Runes and Drinking Song which cuts down on the effective size of the deck.
-
A lot of the allies are one-ofs without much synergy. For Deadman's Dike and The Dread Realm you can be punished for having multiple of the same card, through cost increases or having to discard them from play.
-
Escape from Mount Gram features a unique setup that doesn't necessarily reward traditional deckbuilding. In this quest, success will be highly dependent on which allies are rescued first. Tailoring for this quest may hinder my capabilities in the other two so I have chosen not to.
My expectations for the deck are that it has a reasonable chance of success against Deadman's Dike and Escape from Mount Gram. A low starting threat is very valuable against the former, allowing a great deal of control over how to deal with enemies. For Mount Gram all I need is one or two strong allies rescued early to stand a chance.
The Dread Realm is another matter entirely. The Reanimated Dead enemies make a mockery of my secrecy start and there are several treacheries which are extremely damaging. This one will likely require several attempts and a great deal of help from the Valar.
