Have you ever wanted to get Gandalf in play with Lothíriel, but couldn't because she's not an Istari? Of course you have, and now you can! (in one quest)

This deck can only be played against the newly announced The Hunt for the Dreadnaught quest. So of course it hasn't been playtested, and may be absolutely terrible against the actual quest when it comes out (but that won't stop me from getting first dibs on an Eithiliant deck!) Also, credit to reddit user wkufan89 for the idea of the main combo of this deck.

Basically, choose Eithiliant as your ship, and use it to give Lothiriel all of Radagast's traits. Then cheat Gandalf into play for free for the rest of the game. Radagast gets his eagles to play with, which should give most of the combat power for the deck (along with frequent appearances from everyone's favorite disturber of the peace). If you ever can't find Gandalf, just Word of Command him back, or any other combo piece you're missing.

Since we can assume the sailing keyword will be on the quest cards, there's a fair amount of low cost allies to give some cheap bodies to run the ship. Guardian of Ithilien pulls double duty sailing and sending enemies from the boarding keyword to the staging area.

All in all, I'm just super excited that we have something to look forward to after Fortress of Nurn drops. Not to mention the chance to create a deck that nobody can critique for a good long while (finally the FFG slow boat from China helps me out!)

nice, but i would do some adjustments: darons runes are for finding gandalf better? then take drinking song, chances are higher.

protector of lorien? why you do not draw much cards.

with this much allies, the very good tale seems good, specially sneak in gandalf in the planning phase (use his reaktion) use him and another ally for the good tale, take him back and use him with lothiriel in the questphase again.

why 2 will of the west?

you do not have muc discard and the drawing will never empty your deck. even if you "would" use my advice and add the tale, you will run out in round 20 or so. even if you want to have it for multiplayer i allways prefer 1 will of the west and 1 dwarven tomb.

leave winged guardian and max wlyador. cheaper.

only some ideas on the 1. sight ;)

Hey, what did I say about no criticism until the pack is released :) To answer some of your questions -

Drinking song would work well in this deck, I just tend not to think about it unless I'm playing hobbits.

VGT also would work well I imagine, I don't use it very much out of personal preference. It's just a little too random for me.

I generally like to put protector in most of my decks with lore just to give post staging willpower flexibility.

I put in the will of the wests because of the new pillage keyword, which discards cards off the top of your deck.

Thanks for checking out the deck! I'm sure that we'll see plenty of crazy new deck ideas when the pack comes out. It makes me wish we had Eithiliant's effect as a contract (though I'm sure it'd be game breaking, especially in saga passing around the ringbearer trait).

There has been a few times now that I get notification of new sets from RingsDB first, instead of FFG/Asmodee. This deck post being one of those times. It helps that I look at RingsDB everyday, but probably only look at FFG once a week or so. Looks like fun. I have my The Hunt for the Dreadnaught on order already.

Have you considered having Gwaihir in the starting line-up to use Gwaihir's debt (and bounce the Istari back into your hand to then be available to be used by Lothiriel)?

The text does say “unique character with eagle trait”, so technically you don’t have to add an eagle as a hero...the deck does have 3 unique eagle allies...so Gwaihir’s Debt is still useable without hero changes...it could make playing Gwaihir’s Debt inconsistent.
