Thematic Saga Series: Deck 2

The Old Forest

Series Overview

Welcome to the Thematic Saga Series, where I will be taking the most thematic decks possible against a modified Saga Campaign, on DragnCards. Here are the rules for this Campaign:

1: Your decks must be as accurate as possible to the books. So in A Shadow of the Past's case, because it takes place in the Shire, I will only be using Hobbit allies.

2: I am allowed to change heroes to fit the theme and I will not be incurring the +1 threat penalty while swapping heroes this way. For example, if I used an ally version of Legolas or Gimli in The Breaking of the Fellowship, I could swap heroes so I can us them as heroes in The Uruk-Hai.

I follow the rest of the rules for a standard Campaign.

The Theme

I decided to go without Allies in this deck, because the only Ally the Hobbits encounter in this forest is Tom Bombadil. That was pretty punishing, especially with the possibility of branches falling on your head, and three two HP Hobbits. I added Merry for obvious attacking purposes, but he only attacked one enemy throughout the entire eleven round game. I went with a song subtheme, because of Frodo's failed attempt to cheer up the Hobbits, though I'm pretty sure that Frodo's song gave the Hobbits the opposite effect of Fireside Song. XD

Game Notes

I played a Fast Hitch round one, along with Hobbit Cloak round one, and a few songs came out early. This game wasn't very eventful, I basically just played a bunch of songs (including a few Drinking Songs) and quested. Each hero (including Pippin, that fool of a Took was singing his own Song of Sleep ) was merrily singing depressing Fireside Songs and defending themselves against Old Man Willow.

My score was 134:

25 Threat,

11 Rounds,

6 Victory Points.

Boons Earned: None.

Burdens Earned: None.

Hope you enjoy, next time the Hobbits will acquire their Barrow-blades in Fog on the Barrow-downs!
