Thematic Saga Series: Deck 4

A Knife in the Dark

Series Overview

Welcome to the Thematic Saga Series, where I will be taking the most thematic decks possible against a modified Saga Campaign, on DragnCards. Here are the rules for this Campaign:

1: Your decks must be as accurate as possible to the books. So in A Shadow of the Past's case, because it takes place in the Shire, I will only be using Hobbit allies.

2: I am allowed to change heroes to fit the theme and I will not be incurring the +1 threat penalty while swapping heroes this way. For example, if I used an ally version of Legolas or Gimli in The Breaking of the Fellowship, I could swap heroes so I can us them as heroes in The Uruk-Hai.

I follow the rest of the rules for a standard Campaign.

The Theme

Well, I needed to use Aragorn, so I had to decide between the Hobbits who to take out. I went with Pippin, beacause Sam is so good and Merry and Aragorn combo so well together. I think all the cards are pretty self explanatory, except for Bywater Shirriff. Those guys are stand-ins for Nob and Bob.

Game Notes

In my first game I was instantly obliterated by a Rider of Mordor. In the first round of my second game, I drew 2x Dagger of Westernesse, and a Hobbit Cloak, and a Song of Wisdom. The next round I got off a copy of Frodo's Intuition and drew Fast Hitch. An enemy was revealed, I disposed of it with my Aragorn/Merry combo, then readied them both with Fast Hitch, then engaged Bill Ferny
and made him wish he was never born. After that I quested through stage 2, and had no Ringwraiths in the encounter deck. I only had to engage 2 enemies then, because a Rider of Mordor was under the Weather (hills), so I dispatched of the other 2 easily with my powerful Merragorn.

My score was 92:

2 attempts,

31 Threat,

6 Rounds,

3 Victory Points.

Boons Earned: Tireless Ranger.

Burdens Earned: None.

Hope you enjoy, in the next scenario the Hobbits and Aragorn will fly to the Ford!
