Mythik 216

This is a deck that was designed to have game into all but the hardest quests. Starting with Thurindir means you can have Gather Information straight away, and usually by turn 3 at the latest have any card in your deck you need to handle the quest specific challenge.

Look for one of the defensive attachments for Erkenbrand (Ancestral, Hauberk, Captain of Gondor) and/or some card draw (Gléowine, the Pipe, Stone) in your opening hand, then find what you need with Gather. If you draw the Gather initially, then grab Prepare for Battle with Thurindir instead.

Unfortunately, I think it would probably be more consistent overall to just use Beravor instead and have all your cards. Publishing it anyway because it's not a bad deck by any means and I did enjoy playing it.

Just as a side note, who else finds it difficult to play non Bond decks now? The extra hero action and resource makes such a big difference, as well as having access to all spheres. Super strong.

Nice. The White Council is a really good "emergency" ready for 1 Player, or not-too-costly card draw to replace itself as you thin your deck.

Who do you usually put Steward of Gondor onto? Is it usuallly dependent on what's in your hand at the moment, or do you have a preferred target?

Thanks! I really rate The White Council in solo - I never mind seeing it, even if i don't feel the need to play it. It also functions well as resource smoothing to be able to play some of the key cards a turn earlier if you need it - I've played turn 1 Steward, Arwen, Asfaloth this way to good effect.

The default target for Steward is Erkenbrand - being able to quickly play the armour and be able to pay the kicker for Heed is important. But I have played it on both Thurindir and Glorfindel if I had Firyal or Elfhelm and felt like I needed them early.

Having an Errand Rider helps make the decision of who gets Steward somewhat less impactful than it would be without though.

Wow! This looks awesome! Have you tried taking it through the reduced quest gauntlet yet? Seems to me that, with maybe a few changes, this could be One Deck material. Nice job!

@GreenWizard thanks! It wasn't trying to be a One deck, more of just a toolbox, but I guess One Deck's need to be toolboxes by definition? I do find the discussions on the One Deck's interesting, so probably there is some influence coming out them - Nori is something I'd not have looked at otherwise until I saw him in use in the Best Deck, but have since used to good effect.

Someone better at making in game decisions could run through the RQG, but I don't think I'm there yet. I've only recently started trying Nightmare, and it's a big jump in many cases.

@GreenWizard so only a little behind the times, but in what ended up more similar to this than I'd planned, I have a deck that did take on the reduced quest gauntlet - ) One Toolbox, if you're interested.
