SchadenfreudeNE 251

This is a deck I recently built, and I have been having a lot of fun with it. The initial idea was to use the new ALeP card Beorn's Welcome to generate a free resource every round for Bifur. To play Beorn's Welcome, you need a Beorning hero, so Grimbeorn the Old seemed like a natural fit with his "spend a resource" Response action and combat-hanndling ability.

From there, I added in (1) other "spend a resource" characters (like Gildor Inglorion, Erebor Record Keeper, and Ioreth, and Birna), (2) other Beorning allies, and (3) Dwarf deck-milling fun (including the new Beorning Pony). The deck could be adapted into a The Last Alliance deck with Dwarves and Beornings, but I made some concessions to making the deck more single-player friendly. I've been recently trying to build non-contract decks, since they were beginning to become a crutch when a put a deck together.

I liked this deck so much that I put it together IRL, which is why I don't have some good cards like A Very Good Tale or Treebeard--they are all being used in other decks I've built with actual cards. I wanted to make a deck that I could take to Con of the Rings, so there is no Steward of Gondor.

As far as piloting instructions, you are looking for Beorn's Welcome in your starting hand and should mulligan for it. I typically put the first one onto Gildor Inglorion, which creates a sort of Elven-light/Arwen Undómiel synergy, where you can either generate a resource for free with Bifur or draw a card for free with Gildor. Based on my reading of the rules, you can put Beorn's Welcome onto Bifur, and he can generate the extra resource himself, however there are a fair number of "spend a resource" cards to use.
