I was recently listening to an old podcast episode of The Grey Company and was inspired to try a mono Lore deck with the current card pool. I've always found mono Lore decks to be viable, even in solo, and potentially very powerful, and this deck is no different. Where this one is a bit unique, however, was the deliberate inclusion of an often overlooked hero (Glorfindel), and to try out the new Halfling Bounder (which turned out to be very handy indeed!).
Honestly, it doesn't really matter what you get in your opening hand here, as the deck is designed to have a number of ways to accomplish the various aspects of the game. However, the cards that I was always happy to get early were Henamarth Riversong, Treebeard, and Elf-stone.
Questing is excellent with the Wellinghall Preservers and Mirkwood Explorers. Location control is very good thanks to Asfaloth and the Mirkwood Explorers (a real star ally in this deck, and one that I will definitely find ways to include in future decks).
I tended to pay for Treebeard and save Elf-stone for Gildor Inglorion and Haldir of Lórien, but that's really up to the player and the circumstances of the game.
This deck can handle just about anything, and I had a blast taking it through a variety of quests (yes, as per usual I also tested it out against the quests in The Sands of Harad, where it performed beautifully). I'll happily admit that getting Scout Ahead into the victory display to make use of the Halfling Bounder was a bit hit or miss, but the card draw in this deck enabled the combo to work more often than I anticipated.
Fun to see Lorfinddel
