Draw tons of cards, help your fellow players, mill your deck, play free stuff, repeat!
This the first deck i made after browsing all the available LOTR cards. It takes advantage of Erestor's card draw along with free cards generated through milling, zero cost cards and graveyard interactions.
It is a really interesting and fun deck which complements nicely other decks by giving other players resources, card draw and threat reduction. I've never tried this solo, i always use it in 2 player games.
- Opening Hand - Mulligan: You want to have Steward of Gondor in your starting hand and play it on Arwen. A hand with some card draw is also acceptable because in the first round you will draw 10+ cards so it very possible to find it.
The first round you will have at least 10 cards and at least 6 resources making it possible to play a round 1 Gandalf + other stuff or lots of smaller allies/attachments.
-
Play liberally all your milling minions to get advantage of the "free" cards (Ered Luin Miner / Hidden Cache) or just fill the discard pile with useful cards.
-
Don't be afraid to play doomed cards and get threat from Gandalf. I even use Song of Earendil to get threat from other players. There are many threat reducing cards and will probably play them more than once.
-
When milling with Zigil Miner the number you should usually say is zero.
-
Many utility cards are included 1x in order to be versatile because it isn't difficult to find them with so much card draw.
- Reshuffling There is one copy of Will of the West in the deck so it is very possible that it will be thrown in the discard pile. No worries, there are many ways to reclaim it. 2 x Ered Nimrais Prospector 1 x Dwarven Tomb 1 x The White Council Just keep an eye on those cards. You should try and play Will of the West when your deck is almost empty to get the maximum benefit from it.
I am still experimenting with other cards such as Evening Star etc. but the core is there. You will find some of them in the sideboard section.
The decks performs very well when paired with a more combat-oriented deck and i am currently using it in the campaign with a friend.
Enjoy!

Feb 16, 2017Hi! The decks usually gets exhausted after 5-6 rounds and then you play Will of the West. Most games are over before i manage to exhaust the deck for a second time. Even if this happens, you get to play Lords of the Eldar every round, sometimes twice per round which is better than nothing. However i think it is safe and without much impact to add a second copy of Will of the West. Going to more than 50 cards isn't a big concern for this deck because it draws tons of cards. |
This looks really interesting, will give this a try. I will need to make some proxies first though since I don't have some of the cards. Do you find that you go through the deck really quickly with this? Is 1x Will of the West enough to keep the deck going?
