This is a deck with a total of 0 attack for the Quest of the Week (Passage Through Mirkwood). I'm not sure how difficult this would be without Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, but with them it's pretty straightforward.

Using Tom's response, you can damage enemies engaged with you when you play a song. Alternatively, you can use the Deeping Defenders to defend, and return the enemy to the staging area and deal a damage to it. Between these two effects, it's not too hard to deal with the enemies in this quest.

The easiest way to kill Ungoliant's Spawn is by attaching Legacy Blade to a hero, then using Fear! Fire! Foes! to reduce the Spawn's defence to 0, and finally discarding it with Straight Shot. I chose Legacy Blade as the weapon because it is free and with no side quests there is no danger of going above 0 total attack for the deck.

Threat reduction come from Galadriel, Hey Dol! Merry Dol!, and Elrond's Counsel. Card draw also from Galadriel and Gléowine (throw a song attachment on him and he can quest for free too since he is a minstrel).

Issues are early questing, early combat, and the treachery that makes you discard all the events in your hand, in case you have all three copies of straight shot or fear fire foes in your hand, as then you will have to kill ungoliant's spawn using a combination of the deeping defender response, and Tom's response.

Fun deck idea! Unfortunately both Fear! Fire! Foes! and Straight Shot specify that they can only be used on non-unique enemies, so you’d need another way to deal with the Spawn if you get that 3B

Ungoliant's Spawn isn't unique, surprisingly enough, so I think it still works! Really fun deck concept, I like it a lot.

Oh yeesh. I was almost certain the spawn wasn’t unique as well, so I went to double check on HoB before commenting and just quickly looked at the picture hallofbeorn.com and got it looks like I got bamboozled by The Woodland Realm version, which is unique. Cool deck, @fingolfingolfing!

Thanks for the comments! Yeah it's definitely an enemy that feels like it should be unique, and I did panic a little when I saw your comment @Shellin but I'm happy that combo works in this case as it would take a long time to slowly kill it with the Deeping Defender or Tom's response.
