A Silvan deck that nicely handles the Peril in Pelargir scenario solo. Originally, I had tried Celeborn instead of Galadriel, but that deck suffered from lack of card draw. So I made the swap, and it works great. The dicey part of the scenario is the first round, where you start out with an enemy before you even start the round. Then, at the very beginning of the Quest phase, because of the effect of the Leaping Fish, you have to discard a card from the top of the encounter deck, and if it's an enemy, you add it to the staging area. Then, you may reveal an enemy during the staging step. So you could have as many as three enemies in the staging area in the first round. Most will have engagement levels below your threat, so they'll engage.
If you have three enemies, you will likely have to scoop -- but that is likely true of any deck, unless you have hero Beorn. If you have two enemies, you will have to be creative, but there are assets here to help you:
- Greenwood Archer, who you can bring in during the enemy attack step to ready Thranduil to take the 2nd attack;
- Feigned Voices will allow you to avoid one attack, provided you can bring in an ally to then return to your hand to trigger it;
- The Elvenking which you can also use to ready Thranduil to take the second attack -- again provided you can bring in an ally to then return to your hand to trigger it;
- Henamarth Riversong is likely the ally that you would want to bring in via Thranduil's ability, so you can return him to your hand via Feigned Voices or The Elvenking;
- Hands Upon the Bow will allow you to eliminate almost any of the enemies during the quest phase (using Legolas to attack), so that you face just one attack during the combat phase; and
- Sneak Attack will allow you to bring in an ally to face an attack if you can't otherwise afford one.
One thing that I did that I wasn't quite sure was according to Hoyle: I treated Alcaron's Scroll as an attachment for the shadow effect on Pickpocket.
