Obviiious 1

True-solo and all-round thematic Rohan deck with characters that were actually at the Pelennor Fields battle.

Éomer was preferred as a hero instead of Dúnhere (both for theme and his ability), but couldn't fit in a lot of cards and ended up with a lot of cards. Decided it would be best to add a second Hero and Dúnhere was the only option.

Beginner friendly, build with only cards from:

  • Core set
  • Saga Expansions
  • Riders of Rohan starter deck

This is my first attempt at making my own deck - any advice or feedback is appreciated.

Not bad for a first deck! Since you say feedback would be appreciated, I'll give a few points.

Steed of the Mark is a trap. By the time you get a single ready out of it, you could've used those resources to pay for Unexpected Courage, which won't drain your resources every time you want to ready a hero.

Spear of the Mark goes great on Dúnhere. If you want to really lean into staging area attacks and keep your threat down, you could consider The Galadhrim's Greeting as well.

Helm! Helm! is very expensive for what it does. You probably can muster enough attack to deal with enemies. Requiring 2 resources, an ally exhaust and discard, and the deck space for that card is usually worse than just defending with that ally, letting it die, and killing the enemy normally.

What about Éomund? And you don't have a great defender. Maybe a Golden Shield would help?

Overall, though, looks fun!

Thank you so much for the feedback! That's really helpfull for me as a new player.

Spear of the Mark and Unexpected Courage should propably be included indeed. (The cards in the sideboard I was doubting to add, among those is Unexpected Courage. Wasn't sure I would really need it, but it's a staple card for a reason...)

Maybe I'll swap Helm! Helm! and Steed of the Mark for those cards.

Only reason to not include Éomund is because he died 20 years before the Battle of the Pelennor fields, leaning into the thematic part of the deck.

You know, I had read that bit about only characters who were actually at the Battle of Pelennor Fields, but I'd forgotten it by the time I made it to the end of my comment. Makes sense not to include him then!
