Mr. Underhill 4155
This quest was much harder than I remember. Between Sarn Gebir, archery, and shadow effects that trigger based on printed hit points, there was a lot of stuff in the quest that pressured my heroes and caused multiple resets. I think I probably attempted the quest 6 or 7 times, tweaking the deck each time. I finally managed to beat it with this list.
On my victorious run, I decided to take the Phial of Galadriel as my starting boon. I was lucky to draw some copies of Frodo's Intuition early, and a turn 2 Peace, and Thought after a Fast Hitch on Sam meant I had a large hand going into turn 3. I was also fortunate to see two copies of Warden of Healing, meaning I could handle the archery and direct damage that this quest dishes out.
Once I made it to stage 2, I had two copies of Feint and a Sneak Attack + Gandalf to deal with the 3 zero engagement cost enemies that came bearing down. (I cut Hobbit Cloak as it did not help at all with this stage.) I chose to go Orc Hunting for 3A, quested well and kept the game under control by discarding or killing my engaged enemies. I wanted to hang around and try to find the Seat of Seeing, but I decided to end it after a Black-Feathered Arrows was revealed while I had 8 allies. 8 archery - ouch!
At resolution, I took Ill Fate as my earned burden and chose Merry to be the captured hero.
Now we go forth to the Treason of Saruman...

Oct 02, 2017I used a variation of the previous deck for those two: ringsdb.com |
Oct 02, 2017Nevermind. I just saw the Black Riders and then this quest on the front page, so I missed your escape from Moria deck. |
How did this deck handle The Ring Goes South and Journey in the Dark quests?
