Based on Chad's (Cardboard of the Rings) Mt. Doom solo deck:

This deck uses Frodo Baggins in addition to Gandalf, Glorfindel, and Sam Gamgee.

The two main purposes of this deck are to increase the heroes' willpower and to ready the heroes in order to pass Fortitude tests and complete each quest card quickly. Mount Doom punishes players for using allies, which is why the focus of this deck is on building up the heroes to do all the work for you.

Increase willpower: Celebrían's Stone, Fellowship of the Ring, Protector of Lórien, Frodo's Intuition, Lay of Nimrodel

Ready the heroes: Cram, Fast Hitch, Light of Valinor (hero does not exhaust to quest), Shadowfax, Unexpected Courage, Flame of Anor

There are resource acceleration cards (Steward of Gondor, Gandalf's Staff) in order to set up Lay of Nimrodel. There are also card draw abilities (Daeron's Runes, Deep Knowledge, Frodo's Intuition, Gandalf's Staff, Expert Treasure-hunter that allow you to quickly dig through your deck.

Duplicate copies of unique cards can be discarded for Protector of Lórien and Daeron's Runes, or can be put on top of the deck using Wizard Pipe to be discarded by Flame of Anor.

Asfaloth can help clear locations that you don't want to travel to, or to help clear the active location. Song of Wisdom and Wizard Pipe allow you to play Lore cards from your hand or off the top of your deck. Dwarven Tomb allows you to return Lay of Nimrodel to your hand in order to be played again.
