DECK NAME - Conflict Aversion

OVERVIEW - Use Denethor to bury all enemies. The idea is to make certain you have a location or harmless treachery as the card revealed during staging. Return to Mirkwood is a little luck-dependent in solo. If you reveal a big enemy during set up, you probably can't win, but that's true of all solo progression decks on this one.

HEROES

  • Denethor - attach 3x Unexpected Courage. Use his ability to bury enemies until a location or treachery is revealed
  • Eleanor - hold back for canceling Gollum's Bite or Gollum's Anguish. Don't cancel Wasted Provisions. Can also use her for travel effects or Strength of Will
  • Eowyn - quest and use her discard ability if it makes a difference

STRATEGY

  • Elfhelm - great for working against Gollum's threat raise; keep in mind he will refresh before Gollum's card ability kicks in so use him for attack/defense or questing
  • Escort from Edoras - save for quest stage 3 push usually; can reuse with Stand and Fight
  • Gandalf - mostly threat reduction but can kill a Hummerhorn or other smaller enemies that get past Denethor
  • READYING DENETHOR - 3x Unexpected Courage and 3x Westfold Horse-breaker. Also use Shadow of the Past if it the only way to insure no enemy is revealed.
  • Strider's Path - use on Mountains of Mirkwood to negate travel effect or on Brown Lands
  • Rumour from the Earth - in early game, use during refresh phase so that you can potentially save Denethor's ability for after next staging step
