DECK NAME - Fatty's Flight

NOTE: The deck works better with Pippin but then loses the 10/10 deck name!

OVERVIEW: The idea struck me that I should try building a deck for Flight to the Ford using Fatty Bolger called "Fatty's Flight." It became a humorous task that actually led to me having the most fun building a single deck so far! This deck against this quest is so much fun, and is surprisingly effective. Hope you enjoy!

HEROES

  • Beravor - draw cards every round
  • Fatty Bolger - attach Hobbit Pipe; his action can actually give you a boost at the last push when there is a 3 Ringwraith in the staging area (yay!); attach Steward of Gondor to help Fatty seem more useful; you can replace Fatty with Pippin to make the deck a bit better (but why would you?)
  • Glorfindel - how thematic are Glorfindel and Asfaloth in this quest?! Attach Light of Valinor and Asfaloth
  • Frodo Baggins - attach Hobbit Pipe

STRATEGY

  • SETUP - mulligan for immediately useful cards; cards I want to see are Peace, and Thought, A Test of Will, Light of Valinor, Elrond's Counsel, and Risk Some Light
  • QUEST PRIORITY - our priority is to make sure a second Fell Rider is not added to the staging area, use Frodo Baggins's response and 3X Risk Some Light to make insure you don't see a Fell Rider enter play; we also want to make use of 2X A Light in the Dark (early game) and 3X Out of Sight (late game) to allow us to engage Fell Rider thereby giving Frodo 5 less damage (which equals 3 more rounds to finish the quest handily)
  • ROUND 1 - it's great if you can play a Elrond's Counsel and Risk Some Light in round 1 to insure you don't run into a Fell Rider early; if and when you do, use Frodo's response as a panic button; odds are you won't see a 2nd Fell Rider if you play right; the dream is to play Peace, and Thought during round 1 refresh
  • STAGE 1 - delay traveling to The Last Bridge until you have set your board state up (around round 5 or 6) and make sure to have A Test of Will ready if possible for the revealed burden; it would be optimal to enage Fell Rider and play 2X A Light in the Dark during stage 1 to spare Frodo 2 points of damage
  • STAGE 2 - Optionally engage Fell Rider and subsequent Ringwraiths in following 2 rounds using Out of Sight to negate their attack and clear out of staging; with your threat below 15, you'll easily place 30 progress on 2B and win the game
  • THREAT REDUCTION - try and stay at 19 and under the whole game
  • ETTENMOORS LOCATION - leave it in staging the entire game without placing progress on it
  • FELL RIDER ENEMY - us A Light in the Dark and Out of Sight to engage it and give Frodo more time
  • PAIN ASSAILED HIM TREACHERY - use A Test of Will to give Frodo more time
