This is a deck I am testing right now to bring to the Con of the Rings for Dwarrowdelf cycle. Fearless Scout goes on Glorfindel at setup due to Side A of The Grey Wanderer. Starting with low threat of 5, so not essential in my view to obtain Light of Valinor in opening hand. Readying and resources are the priority for Side B of The Grey Wanderer contract. Asfaloth is not in the deck as he is wintering in Rivendell due to the cruelty of bringing a horse into Moria and the Misty Mountains. Also, no efficient way to play him given conflicting spheres without adding Reforged and having some jank. I wanted the deck to be focused on heavy willpower.

Key Events are Scouting Party, Lay of Nimrodel, Courage Awakened, and Timely Aid. Glorfindel and his fellow scouts are going to be questing.

Player Attacks (if the Scenario requires me to be engaged with an enemy) are Glorfindel's responsibility. He should have plenty of resources available for a Lay of Nimrodel and Revealed in Wrath combo for a mighty attack.

Silvan Refugee is in the sideboard because I don't know if I am going to be playing with people running Silvan decks and I'd rather not have them discarded before I can quest with them. Rest of the side-board is quest specific. Willing to substitute Fair and Perilous and Leaf Brooch for certain attachments and events from side-board as needed.

Inspired to create because there were no other Glorfindel Grey Wanderer Decks that included Fearless Scout as the starting attachment.

that is because its ineffective. what does scout do to him? he could get Warden of Arnor and +2 from Scouting Party

use Strider +2 wp from the start and extraaction more efficient

@doomguard - Glorfindel and the scouts get the +2. Otherwise, none of them get it if they are all questing.

@doomguard - correction to previous note: if Glorfindel is not a Scout, and he is committed to the quest, then I am unable to use Scouting Party at all. So, none of the Scout characters benefit from the +2.

Glorfindel is always going to be questing. If he is a Scout, all of my characters committed to the quest get the +2 with Scouting Party. Fair point about Warden of Arnor, though I disagree about your assessment that it is ineffective to have Fearless Scout as Glorfindel starting attachment.

if u want to use Scouting Party you could always not commit him to the quest, that would be average of 1-2 times per game, for that 1-2 times it is uneffective to use the unique chosen attachment slot. but if you think otherwise, in a game that is about 7-10 turns happy questing ;)

Have you considered using a different hero who starts as a scout? Widfast gets to start with Gavin or Hunting Dogs basically in play, giving you 2 starting scouts plus Strider or another useful 1-cost attachment. If you want the combat capability, then Lanwyn, Idraen, or good ol' Aragorn all pack a punch. I see that Glorfindel is giving you access to Fair and Perilous and Elrond's Counsel, which are nice, but you can get other threat reduction easily, and with gray wanderer there are plenty of ways to get an attack boost.

@kjeld - I don't have any ALeP cards, but I love the look of Widfast and Hunting Dogs! I really like the two willpower and hitpoints on the dogs. I am willing to grant that your deck ideas are better. Aragorn, Idraen are already in the deck I am bringing for Location control that @doomguard made called "location wanted (monospirit-discard-locationcontrol)."

Still, I have been having fun and achieving my aim of high questing power. And this is with a less than optimal starting attachment.

In my plays in Khazad-dûm that I have been doing on the kitchen table, I have found with the deck that I have at least four allies on the board on turn 3. So, I am not invested in having the +2 from Strider for my own deck for a few turns. The not exhausting is obviously good, though my Light of Valinor covers that if I can get it, though I have readying in a pinch with the contract. I could use the dogs though.
