"Grimbeorn the Old is an amazing hero." -Captain Obvious.

Grimbeorn is so good its almost paralyzing to try to build a deck with him because he allows so many cards to added to your deck. With his ability to defend and attack on turn 1 you can build all sorts of decks to take advantage of this.

What I decided was to pair him with the Happy Couple.

Arwen can add a resource to herself or to Aragorn. This allows you to save a resource on Grimbeorn to trigger his ability. Proud Hunters is a natural fit for a deck with Aragorn and Arwen to add even more resource acceleration. Use those resources to put in some allies.

Make the most out of Grimbeorn by giving him a Rohan Warhorse to ride. One resource spent for his ability translates to a readying effect as well. Raven-winged Helm is great for him in addition to an Honour Guard or 2.

Raiment of War is a one of, this card can go on a number of characters, but be wary of putting it on Grimbeorn because he will not have any restricted slots left for a horse.

This deck packs a powerful punch in the ally department. Play the Beorning Skin-changer to get more expensive and powerful Beornings in play. If you have not drawn an Elven-light you can still discard Beorn or Beorning Guardian to Arwen or Steed of Imladris to be pulled into play later.

You can quest for 5 on turn 1 and still have a defender and attacker ready, and this is assuming you did not play a card.

One of the best things about Aragorn and Grimbeorn is the reduction. Combined, that is -3. There are quite a few enemies in the game with high and low hit-points. These buggers are hard to kill because sometimes your attacker(s) can't do that one or 2 damage needed.

Enjoy!

I was just building around Grimbeorn last night but this looks better!

Have you thought about Stand and Fight to get back your skin changers?

@Skeffington that's a good include! Plenty of room in this deck to swap out some 'one-ofs' for that card. Great suggestion.

Just for the tile, I already give you a like!

Maybe Raiment of War, since Grimbeorn doesn't need it. Azain could go too.

What are some of the attachment suites you've had success with on Grimbeorn? There are a lot of things you could do with him.

I played some games with this deck and gave it a spotlight on my blog. Fun deck! Get a couple Beorning in the table and those enemies don’t stand a chance! lotrdecktest.wordpress.com
