One of the pleasure of this game is to create a deck specifically tailored for a harder quest. Since most decks won't survive the heavy milling of "Under the Ash Moutains", I figured it was a good time to start deckbuilding.
The quest doesn't allow events to shuffle cards back into the player's deck, but Dwarf Pipe works perfectly to counter what the quest tries to achieve. I really enjoy the thematic home run of dwarves being the best suited to navigate dangerous underground tunnels!
I decided to go retro for the hero selection - the more recent dwarf heroes rely on discarding from the deck, not a good choice in the circumstances. Using hero Nori prevented me from using ally Nori and his very relevant ability. In testing, however, the Dwarf Pipe proved sufficient to safeguard the deck. No need to add that an aggressive mulligan to get a copy is a priority!
The deck also include a couple of options for some burst questing to get rid of side quests quickly: both Untroubled by Darkness and Grappling Hook fill this role. Khazâd! Khazâd! is probably to more flex card in this deck: it's useful in the early game when there isn't enough resources available to spam out Erebor Battle Master, but later in the game dispatching tough enemies become easy (it does combo with the Grappling Hook, however).
Arwen Undómiel and Glorfindel aren't especially thematic in a dwarf deck but they are too good to pass out.

Jun 19, 2020add 1-3 bilbo, they help getting more pipes faster, and there is only nori for thread reduction, perhaps some smokerings could help. consider to use sterner then steel instead of hasty stroke. you have 6 armor/weapons. if you play solo and want to have the last % of boost, include the ring with inner strength and the tactic-ring-attachement (then you do not need further shadowcancelling i asume) |

Sterner than Steel will need testing. The constant milling does make the deck less consistent, so I'm slightly wary of using cards that depend on other cards. The One Ring will definitely make the deck stronger. and you can take the threat increases. |
Additional note after further testing: I thought I could make do without it, but three copies of Reforged are necessary. A cheeky Lords of the Eldar might be a last-ditch insurance policy, but I’m doubtful on that one.
