I built this deck for a "Silly Scenario Challenge." See https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/2635822/silly-scenario-challenge for details.
The challenge was to play any scenario with underground locations and to end with King Under the Mountain and The Arkenstone on Bombur. I gave myself the added challenge of having those two attachments begin on Thorin before eventually passing to Bombur. Hence Bard son of Brand.
The deck is fairly powerful: four starting heroes thanks to Bond of Friendship, with an initial questing power of 9. Once the dwarf engine gets humming, there's resource generation with Thorin and card draw with Ori. Prepare for Battle is there for card draw, too, and of course King Under the Mountain helps. Card draw is key for this particular challenge, since you might need to draw your entire deck to find the key cards for the challenge.
I included lots of unique dwarf allies, since once you have The Arkenstone, you get a boost to the questing power of unique allies.
The deck is tailored to Foundations of Stone, which is the scenario I chose for the challenge. Miner of the Iron Hills is helpful for condition removal. Henamarth Riversong allows you to turtle on the first stage, basically drawing your entire deck until you have King Under the Mountain and The Arkenstone on Thorin. You also need Bombur in play, with Sword-thain on him. Finally, you need A Good Harvest in hand, since otherwise when Thorin dies you wouldn't have a way to play King Under the Mountain again.
The starting threat is 40, but there's plenty of threat reduction in the deck. Ever My Heart Rises might be the MVP of the deck when playing Foundations of Stone, since all the locations are underground. I played the challenge three times and won twice. Both victories ended with my threat in the teens or twenties.
Wait, did the challenge say Bombur, Bombur, or any Bombur?
