Master of Lore 900

Here's a fun thematic deck for The Flight of the Stormcaller. It's mainly a bunch of Noldor allies along with a few Outlands allies who came up to the Grey Havens with Lord Calphon.

The new idea here that I haven't seen in other decks is the use of Bilbo Baggins with CĂrdan. Not only has Bilbo always wanted to see the Sea, but his ability actually combos quite nicely with Cirdan, giving you three rather than two choices to discard from at the beginning of each round (in solo play). Once you get the Silver Harp, you get to keep all three cards every round and once you get Galdor of the Havens, you've got four cards every round. It also turns out that old Bilbo isn't such a bad sailor after all!

I usually save Gandalf and Sneak Attack for combat rounds in which I need to face a boarding party. The Lords of the Eldar has been clutch if tough enemies come out or if I need a huge final questing round to catch Captain Sahir.

I've only played this deck solo against Flight of the Stormcaller and fear that it might face a bit of a resource crunch against other quests (as Narelenya has been very helpful churning out the allies), but I can imagine the Steward of Gondor replacing the Mariner's Compass to accelerate resources against other quests.

This is fun collection of characters to see on a boat and plays for close solo games on the high seas. Happy questing!

P.S. Check out my feature article on Tolkien's sailing themes at Master of Lore!

I love to play out this game as a story, and this deck is perfect for capturing the sailing theme. This will be the next deck I build. I encourage everyone to read the attached article. It is very well written and fun to read.
