Truck 1445

This is my first shot at a Lanwyn/Gavin deck.

Any tips would be appreciated.

The One Ring goes to Lanwyn. She quests, readies with Gavin if there is an enemy to deal with, and then attacks.

Widfast always quests.

Beregond defends. He is Unexpected Courage's primary target.

This deck has beat Conflict at the Carrock, NM the Dead Marshes, The Hunt for the Dreadnaught, and JAtA in a fellowship.

All of the sideboard, except for Gavin, are cards I swapped out for Gandalf when I played this in a fellowship, bc my bro was running a deck with hero Gandalf.

does Lanwyn trigger if the encountercard gains surge as result of a response? the response is after revealing. so i think, the response of lanwyn needs a card that have surge before reactions, because at the time the revealing takes place, there is no surge.

@doomguard, I'm pretty sure she does, and I'm positive the designers intended for her to.

I think there's something talking about her being designed to trigger with Gavin here: alongextendedparty.com

@doomguardThey are intended to work together in a combo. Gavin is worded as "after resolving the staging of an card without surge" which should come slightly earlier then "after a card with surge is revealed" (though I will admit that the exact timing of staging/revealing cards from the encounter cards especially with stuff like Surge/Peril is one of the murkiest areas of the game)

some rules-references? i can think that it was intended to work this way (i did not see that in the designprocess if i had i had discussed that there). i think, resolving a card is after revealing.

as the wording stands, i would say the timing is not correct. would be interesting to hear calebs opinion of that.

Staging is the term used to describe the process of revealing an encounter card from the encounter deck, resolving its effects, and placing that card. The staging of each encounter card follows these steps:

1. Reveal the encounter card by turning it faceup so that its game text is visible.

after here, lanwyns response takes place (after an encountercard with surge is REVEALED....)

2.Resolve any keywords and/or when revealed effects on the encounter card. here Gavin response come in (text: after RESOLVING.....)

3.Place the encounter card in the appropriate game area. .....
