Thematic Saga Series: Deck 3

Fog on the Barrow-downs

Series Overview

Welcome to the Thematic Saga Series, where I will be taking the most thematic decks possible against a modified Saga Campaign, on DragnCards. Here are the rules for this Campaign:

1: Your decks must be as accurate as possible to the books. So in A Shadow of the Past's case, because it takes place in the Shire, I will only be using Hobbit allies.

2: I am allowed to change heroes to fit the theme and I will not be incurring the +1 threat penalty while swapping heroes this way. For example, if I used an ally version of Legolas or Gimli in The Breaking of the Fellowship, I could swap heroes so I can us them as heroes in The Uruk-Hai.

I follow the rest of the rules for a standard Campaign.

The Theme

I decided to go without Allies again in this deck, because the only Ally the Hobbits encounter on the Barrow-downs is Tom Bombadil. The deck is pretty much the same as the last one, but I added a few cards like Dagger of Westernesse. I also gave myself a little testriction for this one: I couldn't play Dagger of Westernesse until I was stuck in or had escaped a Barrow.

Game Notes

I was able to get a Drinking Song early, which basically functioned like an extra mulligan, which brought out Good Meal and Frodo's Intuition, which brought out Fast Hitch and Hobbit Cloak. Pretty good setup. After Ii advanced, I waited a round to travel to Hollow Circle, because I was already engaged with a Cold Wight via Treachery. After I got the Wights killed and advanced, decided to wait another round on before travelling to Standing Stones I had to engage a copy of Barrow Wight. I decided to advance and be engaged with 2 enemies, because I had got Fast Hitches on Sam Gamgee and Merry by then, and I had 2 copies of Dagger of Westernesse waiting for me to play them. I was able to eliminate the enemies and advance in the next 2 rounds. After that I simply quested and won.

My score was 77:

18 Threat,

7 Rounds,

12 Victory Points.

Boons Earned: Ho! Tom Bombadil!.

Burdens Earned: None.

Hope you enjoy, next up is A Knife in the Dark, where Ferny will be dealt with quickly, or else!
