The deck I built to complete the Jan. 27, 2022 daily challenge: defeat Passage through Mirkwood with a deck in which everything costs 3. I made it harder by attempting to defeat the Nightmare mode of this quest. After several failed attempts, I landed on this deck.

Dáin Ironfoot does his usual awesome thing, and it helps that there are a lot of 3-cost dwarves.

Glóin is key for resource acceleration and decent stats (with Dain's boost). In a deck where everything costs 3, you need significant acceleration if you want to play more than one card per round (you NEED to play more than 1 per round against a Nightmare quest!). Gloin does this, though with no way to boost his it's a very risky gambit. Helps to have Dori in play, hence why he is 3x.

Gloin needs healing to work, so I had to put in . However, a second sphere introduces a resource smoothing problem, and there are no good 3-cost cards in or that can help. Fortunately, Bifur to the rescue! Taking the Forest Spider undefended on Gloin first round gives you 3 resources. Giving 2 to Bifur, you can play a ally (hopefully Galadriel --> Forest Snare or Self Preservation or Fili + Kili) AND a ally (hopefully Dori, though Daughter of the Nimrodel is good too) on your second turn.

After that, try to stay alive and hope the encounter deck isn't too cruel. It's very swingy -- I lost three games before I got lucky on the fourth, when Galadriel fortuitously snared Chieftain Ufthak, Lure of Moria and Longbeard Map-Maker saved me from Ungoliant's Spawn, and I didn't get any heroes caught in The Spider's Web.

Anyhow, a fun and surprisingly tricky daily challenge!
