The... Elven King?

It's hard to pinpoint the most important piece in this deck, mostly because it's a companion; it's here to make sure "The Many Knives of Lórien" works smoothly.

Actually, in a previous version, there were 3x Elf-buddy just to get that half-guarantee of at least one showing up. Heed the Dream is here to get that assurance back.

Sméagol is just an amazing card-draw machine (it's first 6 triggering are free essentially), it also helps very much with the initial questing. This greatly improves your chances of rushing through a quest without worries of enemies pilling up at the staging area.

A few points are worth noting:

  • Pointy Sticks should always go on Guardian of Ithilien because he's cheap and useless after entering play;
  • Don't waste your Fresh Tracks. They are here to guarantee a good use of Arrows from the Trees or a nasty surprise forced-engaging;
  • Elendil Stone is hardly used, but when I need it and actually get it, by Eru, it's game changing. Also, it should go on the Dwarven Sniper;
  • The Legacy Blade should go on Argalad for a quick increase and the obvious Orcrist+Éomer combo should be obvious, obviously.

What about Gollum/Sméagol?

Well, here is the thing. There is a rule you have to discard the player card if an encounter card with the same name is in play (and they're both ); Sméagol is truly unique. There is no other card with that name, but if it flips, however... That becomes an issue. So, with that in mind, I have Lady Low-Creativity in the Sideboard just waiting to be used, which would shoot the initial threat up by 3. Is it the same thing? Nope, but it's close enough.

Plenty of Sideboard, huh?

Yeah, so what, strange voice in my mind? I actually had quite some fun with Rossiel and her many many tricks in Sméagol's stead on solo plays. Not great, but fun, surely.

  • Keen as Lances eventually becomes quite cheap in such decks, and it's a good card for 2-cost but becomes great for free;
  • Valiant Sacrifice is also a good card whenever you're playing Lothíriel or her father, but anything costing has to have a great impact in order to enter this deck;
  • Expecting Mischief and Hunting Party were supposed to increase the enemy-removing effects of the Fellowship, but quickly became overkill. Might come back if I realize they should be there, but for now, that's the state of the game.
