DECK NAME - Redhorn of Gondor

https://youtu.be/8VjX0ZlCqBE

OVERVIEW - This is a deceptively difficult quest. The biggest issue is that the Snow-Giant discards your ally with the highest when it engages you. It's very easy for that ally to be the objective Arwen, and if she leaves play you lose the game. This means that you have got to have enough allies with 2 in your deck to deal with engagement with Snow-Giant. Either that or you take an attack from it in staging each round (which requires lots of chumps not to mention other enemy attacks). The sphere that has allies with 2 in general is which means pretty slow card draw and resource acceleration. I feel and Gondor swarm offers the best solution with Boromir and Visionary Leadership boosting our army of allies. Since the objective Arwen ally gives us an extra resource every round, we can actually tap into and Beravor's card draw to make sure we get our Arwen shields out. Meanwhile, Denethor's ability to bury Snow-Giants and Wolfpelt Goblin in particular keeps us out of danger. This deck offers solutions all the way from set up to stage 3's brutal effects.

HEROES

  • Beravor - draw cardz; select her as the 3rd target for Freezing Cold (she will die if attached when we advance to stage 3 but not a big deal since we will have drawn our entire deck at that point)
  • Boromir - attach Steward of Gondor and Visionary Leadership; select as the 2st target for Freezing Cold; be sure to attach Dúnedain Quest just before advancing to stage 3
  • Denethor - use his action during planning to bury Stone-Giants and Wolfpelt Goblins; anything else is usually fine; select as the second target for Freezing Cold; be sure to attach Dúnedain Quest just before advancing to stage 3; try and spend resources from Beravor and stack leave resources on Denethor

STRATEGY

  • SETUP - immediately useful cards, especially Steward of Gondor
  • STAGE 1 - don't quest with heroes the whole game; don't move on to stage 2 until you have 2 VP in the victory display (not Caradhras); just spam allies as much as possible; always retain a resource on Boromir (objective Arwen helps with this); Denethor buries Snow-Giants and Wolfpelt Goblin; use your heroes to take damage when possible and heal up with Warden of Healing rather than chumping; worst case undefended from a 3 enemy is 4 so Boromir can soak that; be careful if the active location is mountain trait or else enemy could be boosted to 5
  • STAGE 2 - do not advance to 3 until you've drawn your entire hand and Boromir and Denethor both have a Dúnedain Quest attached; MUST have 2 VP before advancing; IMPORTANT: Make sure to bring Faramir into play during planning before moving on to stage 3 and take his action before quest resolution or else some of your allies could die
  • STAGE 3 - Ally Faramir negates the Caradhras willpower decrease; Visionary Leadership and 2X Dúnedain Quest keep Boromir and Denethor alive despite Freezing Cold; if Beravor has a Freezing she dies but it doesn't matter as our entire deck is drawn and most likely all allies are in play; be sure to have a Strider's Path in hand in case Frozen Silverlode comes out; use Denthor to bury Snow Storm if on top of encounter deck; should win the first quest phase here
  • Faramir - only bring into play before moving on to stage 3 and exhaust him during that questing phase before quest resolution
  • Dúnedain Quest - attach to Boromir and Denethor just before moving on to stage 3 or else they will die if they have Freezing Cold
  • Shadow of the Past - use to grab a VP location discarded as a shadow card since we need 5 VP to win
  • Strider's Path - only use against Frozen Silverlode; save one for last push in Stage 3 or else everyone dies
