This deck feels more comfortable smashing Nazgûl than performing hide tests... riders looking for Baggins will think twice before asking these guys.
Heroes:
Notes:
- Mulligan for Windfola/Red Arrow if we need to quest, or the Gondorian Shield if we expect some nasty enemy.
- Much better if we also get Firefoot.
- If we cannot find any of Beregond's shenanigans, we still have the Defenders of Rammas as backup.
- Envoys of Pelargir and Horse-breeders are great to be used as Lothíriel's response.
- In case of need, we can also use them as chump-blockers for boosting Éomer's .
- Westfold Lancers have good combat stats but they are mainly here for questing.
- If we need to press the red button, we also have their response, boosting Éomer at the same time.
- Remaining War Axes go to Westfold Outriders.
- Gandalf's response is our only option for threat reduction, and the most preferred as well.
- This deck is plenty of combat power and also has several options for card draw (Horse-breeder, Mathom, Horn, and Foe-hammer). So Gandalf's other two responses are not as vital for this deck.
- Since this deck is highly focused on defense, it is also highly exposed to nasty shadow effects.
- Having a couple of Hasty Strokes will make our lives a little easier.
Sideboard:
- Éomund is great for questing and also for chump-blocking (tiggering lot of rohan's responses).
- I see him a bit expensive for this deck, though.
- Wait no Longer is a powerful card, once we have our combat machinery up and running.
- If you are not afraid of shadow effects, remove the Hasty Strokes to make room for it.

Feb 11, 2024Hey, thanks for your suggestions. You're right about running out of cards and including the Mathoms to prevent it. Will review that and make some space for them. I like the idea of the Gondor/Rohan alliance and being able to face Nazgul from round 1, that's why I thought of Beregond rather than some other hero. :) |
Feb 12, 2024I wrote a different answer, but then I just figured out that I already have the Mathoms in the deck. XD Anyway, you're right, sometimes cards in hand are not enough. Mustering the Rohirrim would be a great way to thin out this deck, but it is not RCO. Gamling + Horn of the Mark maybe would be worth as a card draw engine each turn, Will think about it. I think you'd really struggle to get Foe-hammer to work reliably with only 3 weapons and with Lothiriel, you'll definitely run out of cards in hand more quickly so Ancient Mathom might work better. Personally I would up Horn of the Mark to 3x as well. Gamling should absolutely be in this list as well as you'll run out of allies pretty quickly. Honestly it might even be worth swapping Beregond out for someone like Leadership Imrahil or Elfhelm if you want to go down the mounts route more. Then you can bring in Armoured Destrier, Guthwine, Also maybe consider looking at Herugrim and Golden Shield when they come out in RCO.
